I have issues making a foiling location: You need to sign in before making a location.
I have signed in, but the “Add Location” takes me to the home page map: Your device needs to “Clear Cache” which is done under the Settings. Google search: Clear cache on “enter device name here”.
Do you have instructions on how to add a location: Yes. Click here to read text, or click here to watch the video on youtube.
I can windsurf, and kitesurf, and can wing foil up wind but won’t add a location until I can wingfoil with confidence: You can add a location without being a proficient wing foiler. With your water sports background you likely know the location well. Rider level is not a parameter for adding a location.
Why did you start Foil Pro with this style of live content: Our primary goal is safety and share knowledge on what to do, or what not to do, with the foiling community. We want to keep the sport safe and share the foil stoke with others. We are wing foilers ourselves with strong backgrounds in watersports and believe others also want to ensure the sport is kept safe in their local area.
Can I edit the page after submitting it: Yes, text can be edited by the submitter.
How does rating work: If you didn’t submit a location, but have foiled there, you can review and rate a location, along with leaving a photograph of your session or GPS track etc.
Can I add more photographs: Yes, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org with the location name as the email title.
What classifies a beginner, intermediate, or Foil Pro: We have definitions on our “How to page”
Im a little weary of sharing locations because they involve accessing private land: Avoid sharing places that cross private land. Only share locations where the public can access the coastline.
The wind is very unforgivingly strong and gusty or light and unreliable: This is exactly why Foil Pro exists, to keep wing foilers safe. The locations allow the submitter to detail the hazards at each location. There are multiple “free text boxes” in the form to allow specific information to be shared. Explain wind directions that are more or less consistent, or provide reliable weather stations.
There is a strong tidal or side shore currents in this area: As above. Safety first. Share information of conditions that work best, or most importantly share conditions to avoid.
The water here is very cold: Inform what thickness wet suit to wear during the four seasons, or water temperatures at the location. The Foil Pro form also indicates the “best time of year” to foil.
When the wind is onshore, it’s okay for beginners. But when it is offshore, it’s quite dangerous and only for experienced wing foilers: This is exactly why Foil Pro exists, to keep wing foilers safe. Explain that beginners should only go out in certain wind directions and avoid offshore wind conditions.
There are areas of the beach that you cannot enter due to council regulations (ie swimming/shipping lanes): This is why Foil Pro was born. To keep foilers and other water users safe. Explain in the text areas to avoid, or even better, take a photo of the council signage or annotate a google image showing areas to avoid, or best riding areas.
Can I upload a photo with a water mark: Photographer’s water marks are perfect, we support all photographers. If it’s blatant advertising, your image will not be approved and we will ask you to submit another image.
The location is top secret: Don’t submit areas that are secret little gems. Instead, provide common riding areas where foilers can froth together. Foilers often want to foil together… safety in numbers.
Will you monetize the information that I upload: No. To upload and share foiling locations with the foiling community is free. To help fund and develop the site, we receive funds from retail stores, schools, foil destinations and classified areas (under development).
Unreliable information: If you notice information that is false, email email@example.com with location name as email title and list out your concerns. We greatly appreciate your feedback.
I wouldn’t wing foil there, its dangerous: Email firstname.lastname@example.org with location name as email title and list out your concerns. We greatly appreciate your feedback.
