An option for Westerlies which don’t work great along the peninsula & Great spot for watching & post-session sundowners

*How to get there:* From State Highway 1 driving north from Auckland turn onto Whangaparaoa peninsula approx 30mins after Habour Bridge. Continue along Whangaparaoa until Tindalls Bay on North side of Peninsula. Park around Hardley Reserve / Ave.

*Launch Spot*. Limited parking but enough for rigging on grass

*Entering the water:* slightly tricky boat ramp where wind funnels through then Sandy beach, walk straight out – sometimes up to 50m before deep enough

*-On the water-* Can get busy with Wing foilers & speed differences.

*Wind Direction*: Works with SW but will be gusty but flat water. With westerlies / nor’westerlies it’ll be gusty but a good option for the peninsula

*Wind Strength:* Downwinders going West better in winds 15knts + Westerlies good in high winds 20knts + for decent swell. Nearest wind can Manly Sailing Club

*Where’s the best riding:* All of the bay. Avoid getting too close to the leeshore cliffs as the wind becomes fickle

*Best time of year*: Any time. Water temperature is fine all year around. Good downwinder option from Red beach / Orewa in NW / Westerlies.

*Water depths:* No obstacles straight out with sandy beach. There is reef that extends about 200m out between Manly (West) & Tindalls Bay best to avoid at all tides – it’ll be fully exposed from mid tide. Rocks near cliffs to the right

*Tides*: Ride-able at all tides

*Water quality/clarity:* sedimentary rocks along Whangaparaoa Peninsula so the water clarity / turbidity deteriorates fairly quickly if there’s been a decent blow of wind for a few days. Quality- Pretty good – can check water at if interested.
