• When the thermal wind blows from the NW it can consistently get above 25 knots & not uncommon to get up to 40knts – look out for the clouds bubbling in the mountains  for sure sign of a building breeze.
  • If SE forecast this is a great spot for beginners – it’s a more dense wind, & tends to be a bit more gusty – alternative launch spot from the E end of the lake along gravel track.
  • Often there is more breeze in the mountains than the forecasts predict.
  • Mornings the lake can be glassy calm so having a SUP or Mountain bike is handy for entertainment.
  • If camping ($10 a night)  take all your supplies in – although it says Clearwater Village there are only baches & no places for replenishing provisions
