• Easier to launch from Hatfields to get into Orewa swell than working through messy shore breakers at Orewa. Long rides possible when big easterly swell arrives.
  • Sea-state can be a little challenging closer to the shore until you get out due to shallow sloping sandy beach.
  • Fun rides on the headland to the left if it’s breaking or to the right, watch out for some swirly winds closer to the cliffs
  • Good exit option for downwinders from Sullivan’s Beach in Mahurangi Regional Park in a northerly/ nor’easter.
  • Would be possible for flat-water session for westerlies – but likely gusty & offshore wind.
